These money pots, or Amphoras, have been used in Italy for over 2000 years where the hand thrown design has remained unchanged. Examples of which can be seen in the British Museum. Money pots are believed to bring good fortune and once the first coin is dropped in, the money pot must be fed until full upon which it must be smashed while making a wish. It is customary to replace the pot and to spend the money on good things. Broken pots are sometimes used for house plants and candles.
Terramundi pots are hand thrown in Italy and hand painted in London, they stand between 6-3/4" and 7-1/2" high. Each pot can hold up to $500 in dimes, nickles and quarters.
